Boko Haram ceasefire Operation that was not meant to be
The Boko Haram sect has denied entering into any ceasefire agreement with the Federal Government.
The group stated this in a new video by its leader, Abubakar Shekau. The video is available to AP and quoted by Huffington Post.
“We will not enter into any agreement with non-believers or the Nigerian government,” Mr. Shekau was quoted as saying in Hausa language.
Mr. Shekau’s statement contradicts that of the federal government.
The Minister of Special Duties and chairman of the presidential task force negotiating with the group, Kabiru Turaki, had said the group had agreed to a ceasefire with his committee. He said the ceasefire would soon be signed publicly with the group.
Mr. Turaki had, however, said his committee did not meet nor negotiate with Mr. Shekau directly, but negotiated with his deputy. (MORE HERE)







Police recovers textile machines, arrests seven in Kaduna



The Kaduna State Police Command on Monday announced the recovery of textile machines worth millions of naira and the arrest of seven gang members vandalising textile companies in the state.

The Commissioner of police, Olufemi Adenaike disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

Adenaike said the machines were recovered at a store in Tirkania area of the city, where the gang usually kept stolen items.

According to him, the police also recovered dangerous weapons, drugs and charms at the site, following a tip-off by the Kakuri community.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to desist from dragging President Goodluck Jonathan into the ongoing crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The ruling party said it “condemned in strong terms statement by the ACN in which it is seeking to drag the name of President Goodluck Jonathan into the recent developments in the Rivers State House Assembly”.
The PDP Acting National Publicity Secretary, Tony Okeke, in a statement described the ACN’s statement in which it also called for the impeachment of the president as “malicious and the height of political irresponsibility”.
The ruling party accused the opposition of seeking to aggravate the situation in Rivers State for selfish reasons. (more here)
